Support > Domain Names

Domain names are used to direct traffic to your website and other web services. The most common uses for custom domain names are website addresses (ie. URLs) and using them with email addresses. For example, Iugo use the domain name iugo.com.au to point to our website - http://iugo.com.au - and to use branded email addresss eg. support@iugo.com.au.

Registering a domain name is a cheap and easy way for a business to have more control over their branding and improve their professional image. There are many kinds of domain names available, such as .com, .net, .com.au, .net.au; they all work in the same way with the major differences between each being the registration elegibility requirements. Where possible, we recommend that a business register both the 'com' and 'net' varients of their domain name to ensure that the business has control over their online branding. A domain name acts as a pointer to the server hosting your website. It does so via the Domain Name System (DNS) which handles requests for domain names across the internet. In order for your domain name to point to you website, you'll need to define primary name servers for your domain.

If your website is hosted on our Carbon server:

  • Primary Nameserver: ns1.carbon.iugo.com.au
  • Secondary Nameserver: ns2.carbon.iugo.com.au

If your website is hosted on our Neon server:

  • Primary Nameserver: ns1.iugo.com.au
  • Secondary Nameserver: ns2.iugo.com.au

Alternatively, you can provide us with your domain name administration details and we can handle this for you.

If you are managing your own DNS records, you'll need to know which server your site is hosted on. You can then add the required A record for that domain:

  • Carbon: 150.101.232.18
  • Neon: 203.122.239.93
